As I embarked on the project to co-write the screenplay for 'Dis Koue Kos, Skat' alongside Marita van der Vyver, I couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. Having never worked with Marita before, I was stepping into the unknown, and it's natural to have some reservations about diving into something new.

As a director and writer, I've found myself falling into familiar patterns and styles that feel most natural to me. But with this project, I wanted to challenge myself and explore different creative avenues.

So, what drew me to 'Dis Koue Kos, Skat'? Besides the impressive cast of names attached to the project, including Marita van der Vyver, Anna-Mart van der Merwe, and Deon Meyer, I was attracted to the idea of tackling a vastly different story after my previous work on 'Die Windpomp'.

The film tells the story of Clara Brand, a food writer who discovers that her husband is cheating on her with one of her best friends. As she navigates this painful revelation, Clara finds herself at a crossroads, forced to confront her own passions and desires in life.

As Clara tries to rebuild her life, she begins dating again, with the encouragement of her best friend Minette (Elzabé Zietsman).
